Foods That Make You Happy

A lot of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we should stay away from them. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be extremely nourishing and good for you. There are several foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional pick-me-up, try a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are terrific for helping you battle depression. You need to be sure, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you boost your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Consume an egg and feel better!

Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific protein food source.

Cold water fish are excellent if you are wanting to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly raise your mood.

Grains can be good for fighting a bad mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all wonderful for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to better your mood. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel famished! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these grains faster than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Green tea is truly excellent for your mood. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while at the same calming the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you feel so much healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood as well!

You can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Go with these hints instead!
