Information on How to Boost Your Mood with Food

Many of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are not good and must be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this holds true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. A number of foods really do raise your mood when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional boost, try a couple of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at dealing with depression. You must see to it, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try eating some eggs to feel better!

Put together a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to elevating your mood, can be a superb protein source.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you want to combat depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly raise your mood.

Grains can be excellent for fighting a terrible mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel better. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to better your mood. Feeling hungry can actually make you feel terrible! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s easy for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Your mood could actually be helped by green tea. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid actually induces brain waves. This helps improve your mental focus while calming the rest of your body. You likely already knew it is not hard to be healthy when you drink green tea. And now you know it can help raise your mood also!

As you can see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you want to feel better! Test out these tips instead!
